So, please try the below steps to troubleshoot. Sometimes the improper audio mixing might be caused due to some software conflicts. So, please try to do a clean boot and check if the issue persists.

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot. Please let us know if the issue is resolved or you need any further assistance. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I thought I was clear in stating that I'd tried several different drivers--so neither of these solutions is going to do any good.

Neither the drivers from Windows Update nor those provided by RealTek have solved the problem. The same hardware on the same computer works exactly the way it's supposed to when I boot into Windows 7, so I also know it's not a hardware problem.

I'll add that I don't have confidence in either of those fixes because literally every time I see someone come to these forums to ask for help, "clean boot" and "hardware troubleshooting" are the two solutions that are offered, and in all those hundreds of times, it's only fixed a tiny percentage of those problems.

Bluntly, I'm not willing to waste time chasing down a generic solution that in all likelihood isn't going to do me any good. So I'll ask the question again. Has anyone run into this problem --not blind guessing about what it could be or might be or what possible solutions there are, but this problem --and figured out a fix? I know it sounds silly, but if you go into the audio balance properties, and switch to left or a right channel, it works just fine.

Something is definitely up with the Realtek audio not switching out of 5. Hope this helps at least a little bit! So far no luck for me as well in finding a driver that does this correctly.
